Pacific Rim | Best Special Visual Effects

Nominee | 2014 | BAFTA

Our work on Pacific Rim stands as a true showcase to the entertainment industry of our company’s wealth of creative talents and technological expertise!

We brilliantly tackled a comprehensive array of creative and technological challenges, delivering 200 digital visual effects shots for this spectacular film by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth).

In addition to generating exceptional virtual environments and immersive 3D matte paintings, our team was given the mandate to create, simulate, and animate fully CG creatures and vehicles for a variety of sequences. We are also the architect of all the variations of the interior look of the robot heads, which required building and animating a complex CG rig used to control the actions and movements of the robots – a seamless photo-real blend of both CG and practical FX
We are also especially proud to have been mandated to create all the Robot Head interior shots, as well as an Alien Brain, our first ‘Organic Creature.’” concludes with enthusiasm Sebastien Moreau, Rodeo FX’s President & Founder, who served as the company’s VFX Supervisor and Executive Producer for this project.

Pacific Rim was nominated for the BAFTA Awards in 2014 in the Best Special VFX category.
