Location: Montreal

We’re looking for a Lead Animator to guide and develop our team and act as a mentor to our artists. You need to become knowledge of the skills your team and be able to allocate workloads accordingly. You’ll also work closely with the head of the department to determine the best methods and workflow for each of your projects, taking into account the technical requirements of the pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

Create high-quality, hyper-realistic animations of creatures, characters and objects
Mentor, inspire, and motivate the animation artists
Assist the Animation Supervisor in developing the talent and culture of the team
Work closely with CG and Animation Supervisors and Production to find creative and technical solutions, to identify resources needed and to meet deadlines

Qualifications & Experience

5+ years of experience in a VFX studio
Traditional animation or artistic background
Previous experience with hyper-realistic facial animation
Previous experience working with motion capture data
Previous experience working with Linux
Excellent knowledge of Maya
Excellent understanding of body mechanics, acting, posing and storytelling techniques
Knowledge of scripting, Mel or Python
Understanding of Rigging and Modeling
