Rodeo FX completed 50 visual effects shots for the latest Brad Bird movie, Tomorrowland, including digital matte painting, bluescreen compositing, scene enhancements, CG effects and simulation, and a thrilling sequence in which the central characters escape in a rocket-propelled bathtub pod moments before their house explodes.
Partnering once again with Industrial, Light and Magic, Rodeo FX combined digital effects and miniatures shot in-house to deliver visual effects for the audacious and visually striking Disney movie. The team, who was working under the supervision of ILM’s Craig Hammack and Eddie Pasquarello, contributed to a handful of sequences for the striking journey, which takes the viewer to the magical and futuristic world of Tomorrowland.
Directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles, The Iron Giant, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), the film tells the story of former boy genius Frank (George Clooney) and inventive teen Casey (Britt Robertson) in their danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of a mysterious place known as Tomorrowland.
Disney’s Tomorrowland debuts today in both IMAX and Dolby Cinema, allowing audiences to experience this futuristic world in a more immersive fashion.
