The cinema adaptation of Wajdi Mouawad’s play, Incendies, directed by Denis Villeneuve, will be presented at the next Toronto International Film Festival. This will be its North American premiere appearing in the category ‘Special Presentations’.
The well-known director of Polytechnique also wrote the script for Incendies, his fourth feature film. The film stars Maxim Gaudette, Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin (Dédé, à travers les brumes), Rémy Girard and the actress Lubna Azabal (Paradise Now) in a drama about family and the quest for their origins.
Incendies will also be presented at world premiere at the 67e Mostra of Venice in the category ‘Giornate degli Autori’ (Venice Days), a parallel section of the festival that gives a special place to the creators. The film will hit theaters in Quebec September 17th.
