Rodeo FX is proud to announce it has won an Animago Award for Best Visual Effects for its contribution to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, directed by David Yates. A total of 11 categories were presented at this internationally renowned competition, which was held in Munich (Germany) on September 7, 2017.
Rodeo FX delivered 126 visual effects shots for Fantastic Beasts, including many featured creatures and their environments, the magical reconstruction of a destroyed room, and MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America) – the elaborate headquarters of the wizarding world.
This award is the result of a successful collaboration between the Rodeo FX team and VFX supervisors Tim Burke and Christian Manz, and Warner Bros. It also marks a first win for Rodeo FX at Animago, with the studio receiving two out of three nominations in the Best Visual Effects category this year. Mikaël Damant-Sirois, Head of the CG department, and Thomas Hullin, Head of FX and simulations and 3D artist, were on hand to receive the award and to represent the Montreal studio at the ceremony.
The next award ceremony to watch for is the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, with the studio’s nomination in the Best Visual Effects category for its work on Black Sails season 4.
