Game of Thrones is nominated in 5 categories at the upcoming VES Awards, including “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode”.
A Rodeo FX team is also nominated in the category “Outstanding Created Environment in an Episode” for the majestic bridge and city of Volantis. The members of the team who created this environment are: Dominic Piché, Lead Modeler; Christine Leclerc, Lead Texture Artist; Patrice Poissant, CG Artist; and Thomas Montminy-Brodeur, Digital Compositor.
Rodeo FX artists, led by VFX Supervisor Matthew Rouleau, delivered more than 200 visual effects shots for the series. The VFX studio used its expertise to create key sequences from scratch, including the destruction of the Harpy statue atop the Meereen temple, the eerie Smoking Sea of Valyria, and the ancient city of Volantis.
In collaboration with production VFX Supervisor Joe Bauer and VFX Producer Steve Kullback, a handful of VFX studios, including Rodeo FX, produced the amazing visual effect of the 5th season of this fantastic series.
Congratulations to HBO, Joe Bauer, Steve Kullback, our nominees, and to all the studios and artists who contributed to the spectacular visual effects of Game of Thrones.
The 14th Annual VES Awards Gala will take place on February 2 2016, in Los Angeles.
