Birdman, by Mexican Director Alejandro González Iñárritu is nominated for VES Award in the category « Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal/Live Action Feature Motion Picture ». This award is to honour the overall achievement of the visual effects that play a supporting or background role in the telling of the story. This nomination comes as a great recognition for VFX Supervisor Ara Khanikian, VFX Producer Isabelle Langlois, and the team of 80 artists at Rodeo FX who created all of the visual effects for the movie. The film has already won numerous prizes and is nominated in 9 major categories at the upcoming Oscars.
In addition to producing some spectacular scenes -such as the flying sequence in New York- Rodeo FX was instrumental in creating the single-shot illusion that makes Birdman such a unique masterpiece. Rodeo FX literally worked on 90 min of the movie, stitching together almost a hundred cuts in order to create the continuous shot that follows Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton) in his quest to recover his past fame.
The 13th Annual VES Awards Gala will take place on February 4 2015, in Los Angeles.
