Sébastien Moreau, president of Rodeo FX, announced today the acquisition of visual effects (VFX) studio Alchemy 24.
Founded in 2007 by Jean-François “Jafaz” Ferland, Alchemy 24 is a key player in the Quebec VFX market, in both feature films and TV series. The studio, which consists of 20-some employees, has collaborated with several renowned Quebec directors, including Xavier Dolan, Éric Canuel, Yves Simoneau, and Léa Pool. The studio’s TV work includes the series Victor Lessard, Béliveau and 19-2.
The two companies will remain independent, with no change in management teams. The new partnership will facilitate sharing projects and technologies, further contributing to the high level of quality and efficiency associated with both studios.
This transaction reflects Rodeo FX’s desire to expand its market to be more competitive, and to support the growth of Alchemy 24.
“Jean-François is a talented artist, and has surrounded himself with a solid team. The expertise Alchemy 24 has developed will benefit Rodeo FX, and vice versa,” explained Sébastien Moreau.
For Jean-François Ferland, the acquisition represents a golden opportunity to accelerate the growth of Alchemy 24, with the prospect of contributing to even more amazing VFX projects in the future.
“Sébastien and the team at Rodeo FX have always been a source of admiration and inspiration for me,” said Ferland. “My alchemists and I are extremely happy with the turn of events. Long live Rodeo FX and Alchemy 24!”
