Rodeo FX is proud to announce that its team has won a Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) Award in the Outstanding Visual Effects – Television category for its work on to the 4th season of the popular TV series Black Sails.
Rodeo FX was one of the main vendors creating visual effects for the 4th season of Black Sails and was nominated for its work on episode XXIX. Martin Lipmann, VFX supervisor at Rodeo FX, was nominated alongside Visual Effects Supervisor Erik Henry.
Deak Ferrand, Los Angeles studio director and senior matte painter, was present at the Skirball Cultural Center to receive the trophy on behalf of Martin Lipmann and the entire Rodeo FX team.
The environments created by Martin Lipmann's team are the result of extraordinary teamwork. He would like to thank, among others, Deak Ferrand, Executive Producer Cheryl Banum, CG Supervisor Gabriele Gennaro, Compositing Supervisor Thomas Montminy-Brodeur, Matte Painter Matthew Veillette, Senior Compositor Christian Morin, and Project Manager Nancy Lamontagne.
Rodeo FX was previously nominated for a 2016 Emmy and three Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards for its work on season 3 of Black Sails.
The Hollywood Professional Association Awards honor excellence in post-production while bringing recognition to the creative achievements of individuals and companies, as well as creative excellence and groundbreaking technologies within the postproduction industry.
