The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced the 10 films that remain in the running in the Visual Effects category for the 88th Academy Awards®. Rodeo FX is extremely honored to have participated to two of the movies featured in this very select list.
Nominated along Atomic Fiction and UPP, Rodeo FX delivered more than 100 visual effects shots for Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk, including CG reconstructions of the towering World Trade Center, Plaza and Lobby; as well as other scenes from 1970s New York. Our team was also responsible for the striking sequences where Philippe Petit stands on a platform beside Lady Liberty’s torch, and talks to the audience, as we see the Manhattan skyline in the background.
Rodeo FX completed 50 visual effects shots for the latest Brad Bird movie, Tomorrowland, including digital matte painting, bluescreen compositing, scene enhancements, CG effects and simulation, and a thrilling sequence in which the central characters escape in a rocket-propelled bathtub pod moments before their house explodes. We were delighted to partner up once again with Industrial, Light and Magic, and to contribute to the visual effects of this audacious and visually striking Disney movie.
The 88th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 5:30 a.m. PT at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
