Creating entire 14th century Medina and Tangiers for the IMAX film Journey to Mecca was a feat in itself. But the project was even more ambitious, as it was targeted specifically for the immense OMNIMAX screens around the world.  For this historical recreation of the Muslim pilgrimage, Rodeo FX created 4 matte painting/CG/compositing shots with keen attention to  historic and cultural accuracy, as well as visual impact and beauty. Our work spanned all stages of production, including concept art development, location scout, on-set supervision, matte painting and final composite.  In addition, Rodeo FX conducted a practical element shoot using the RED camera to capture high resolution stock elements shot at high speeds.
