Game of Thrones won its third consecutive Hollywood Post Alliance Award in the “Outstanding Visual Effects – Television” category. Led by HBO’s VFX Supervisor Joe Bauer and VFX Producer Steve Kullback, the VFX team was rewarded for the stunning work it created for the episode “Dance of Dragons”. This prize comes as another great recognition for the popular TV series, which already won a prestigious Emmy Award for Outstanding VFX earlier this year.

For a second year in a row, Rodeo FX acted as one of the main vendors on Game of Thrones. The Rodeo FX team created nearly 200 visual effects shots for Season 5, including the spectacular destruction scene of the Harpy statue in Meereen, the city and bridge of Volantis, as well as the spooky Smoking Sea sequence in Old Valyria.

The Hollywood Post Alliance Awards honor excellence in postproduction while bringing recognition to the creative achievements of individuals and companies, as well as creative excellence and groundbreaking technologies within the postproduction industry. The HPA Awards are considered the standard bearer for excellence and innovation in the industry.

The winners of the 2015 HPA Awards were announced during a gala evening, November 12, 2015 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA.
