After winning a VES Award for “Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects” for its imperceptible VFX work on Birdman, the Rodeo FX team is now nominated for an HPA Award for its amazing contribution to Alejandro González Iñárritu’s masterpiece.

This nomination in the “Outstanding Visual Effects” category comes as a great recognition for VFX Supervisor Ara Khanikian, Additional VFX Supervisor Sébastien Moreau, CG Supervisor Sébastien Francoeur, and Digital Compositors Patrick David and Laurent Spillemaecker; as well as the team of 80 artists at Rodeo FX who created all of the visual effects for the Oscar-winning movie.

In addition to producing some spectacular scenes -such as the flying sequence in New York- Rodeo FX was instrumental in creating the single-shot illusion that makes Birdman such a unique movie. Rodeo FX literally worked on 90 min of the film, stitching together almost a hundred cuts in order to create the continuous shot that follows Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton) in his quest to recover his past fame.

The Hollywood Post Alliance Awards honor excellence in postproduction while bringing recognition to the creative achievements of individuals and companies, as well as creative excellence and groundbreaking technologies within the postproduction industry. The HPA Awards are considered the standard bearer for excellence and innovation in the industry.

The winners of the 2015 HPA Awards will be announced during a gala evening taking place on November 12, 2015 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA.
